Top Trinidad Dancehall Artist To Watch in 2020
Dancehall music in Trinidad is on the rise and has been trending all 2019. Artists like Prince Swanny, Medz Boss and Boy Boy to name a few have managed to garner millions of views within months. Today, we’ll look at the Top Trinidad Dancehall Artists to look out for in 2020.
Icee Dan
Icee Dan has been linked to many established artists in Trinidad and has been releasing music at a high level. With tracks like ’40 Cal’ displaying his gritty lyrical abilities, Icee gives insight about the streets. ‘Military Standard’ released in August 2019 is a known street anthem and is respected throughout the Dancehall community. Icee has been jumping on a lot of riddims lately, so expect great things from this artist in 2020. He is also expected to appear in the highly anticipated film ‘Zesser The Movie’.
One6
One6 has been linked to many popular Trinidad producers like Chady Beats; who has produced for Prince Swanny and Medz Boss. One6 is also slated to appear in ‘Zesser The Movie’ in which he will be acting as himself and not a made up character. One6 offers a positive outlook on the street life with his song ‘ It’s OK’ displaying a motivational side to his persona. One6 also displays his infectious flow skills on ‘160°’ alongside his protege Zero. This artist has a lot in store for 2020 with many tracks loaded in the chamber.
Tafari
Tafari shows no sign of slowing down in 2020. He has been consistently delivering tracks within the last few months which connect with his Dancehall fans. Songs like ‘Life We Living’ chants about his manifestations of success being mindful of the street life while ‘Bompton Law’ unleashes his lyrical dark side. Tafari has been linked to multiple production teams with many riddims to be released.
Rondo
Rondo represents South Trinidad with his simple yet effective style. He first came on the scene in July 2019 with ‘ Touchdown’ which has amassed over 1.5 million views in just three months after the release of its video. ‘Beg Please’ follows up with his gritty-chant style. He is expected to appear on many riddims to be released in 2020, so the features should be great.
Lawless
Lawless is not only known for his ‘4th Genna ‘ style in the Trinidad Dancehall scene; he is also a producer who has worked with Prince Swanny, Jahllano, Orlando Octave and many others. With songs like ‘ Boaty Boy’ , Lawless catches the listeners attention with his melodic rhyme style delivered effortlessly. Lawless is also responsible for the ‘Dead like Dog’ Riddim in which he produced and also performs his own version. Expect a lot more from Lawless in 2020 with not only production, but top quality songs as well.
